Topstep, on its own published terms

Topstep is the longest-running name in this market and the one most new futures traders meet first. Its how-it-works page states the split plainly, and it states the rule that governs a funded account just as plainly: keep 90% of your profits, and stay above the maximum loss limit. Both quotations below were fetched from that page and matched word for word on the date shown, and the page itself is linked so you can check them.

What the split actually says

Topstep publishes "Keep 90% of your profits." on its how-it-works page. That figure is the same one nearly every firm in this index prints, which is the useful thing to notice about it: across the eight firms here that publish a split, the lowest, the median and the highest are all 90%. A number that identical across a market is not a differentiator, and choosing between these firms on the split alone means choosing on the one term they have all already matched.

The rule that governs the account

The page states "Stay above the maximum loss limit." as the condition of a funded account. What matters when you compare that against other firms here is how the limit moves.

Some firms publish a trailing limit that follows the account's high water mark upward, and at several of them it follows unrealised profit as well, so an open trade that moves your way and comes back can breach a level that never showed on a closed balance. Others publish an end-of-day limit that moves once, at the close, on realised profit only. Read Topstep's own rules page for the mechanics before you pay.

What is not published here

This page carries only what Topstep prints on the page linked below. Its plan prices are served to the browser after the page loads rather than in the page itself, so they are not quoted here: a figure this site cannot fetch and match verbatim does not get a cell, because a price that cannot be re-checked is a price that goes stale silently. For the current cost of a Trading Combine account, read Topstep's own pricing page.
